A Student Delegation Visit XMUT from National Institute of Technology, Sasebo College

On October 21st, a 5-student delegation from the National Institute of Technology, Sasebo College (NITS), Japan, visited XMUT. They were received by Pan Deng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC XMUT Committee.

Pan reviewed the friendly exchanges between the two universities and gave a positive affirmation to the benefits these exchanges have brought to both parties. The Japanese visitors had a two-week academic and cultural program at XMUT, which included practice of traditional Chinese martial arts and handicraft of Chinese Tai Chi, Xiamen pearl embroidery, and Koujin coin purse making. They learned together with XMUT students in the featured engineering lab and the specialized classroom for language and cultural art, did an internship at a Japanese-funded enterprise in Xiamen, became guests to local communities and local homes, experienced the ecological civilization of Xiamen, and visited world cultural heritage sites.

It has been 19 years since XMUT and NITS started mutual academic visits and exchanges. The exchange program has had substantial support from the Xiamen Government, the Sasebo Government, and the Sasebo North Rotary Club. In 2023, the year that marked the 40th anniversary of the Xiamen-Sasebo sister city relationship, the two universities launched a reciprocal visit for cultural exchanges between youths from the sister cities. Up to now, over 600 students and faculty members have paid visits to the other sister-city university, each visit helping the growth of friendships.
